The Stars missed the National Hockey League (NHL) playoffs for the second consecutive season, but the team is already preparing for the upcoming year. On May 3, Dallas announced it had signed Jason Robertson to a three-year, entry-level contract.

Drafted by the Stars in the second round of the 2017 NHL Draft, Robertson played in 68 games last season for the Kingston Frontenacs of the Ontario Hockey League and recorded a team-high 87 points. He also tied for sixth place in the league in goals (41) and seventh place in points (87).

An 18-year-old right-winger, Robertson recorded 200 points in 190 career games with the Frontenacs. He also scored 38 points in 31 career playoff games.
